We have just got word that the 34-year-old pitcher, Edinson Volquez may not be returning To Miami Marlins too quickly.
Edinson Volquez was placed on the 10-day DL with left knee pain a week ago, but now it looks like he’s going to remain on the disabled list longer. Read on…
LatinoAthlete.com has learned that Edinson Volquez has continued to feel discomfort. His MRI results show that the veteran’s balky left knee showed patellar tendinitis.
Miami Beat writer, Clark Spencer, Tweeted this news on Friday:
“Mattingly said MRI showed patellar tendinitis with Volquez. Will miss Sunday start but thinks it to be more short term than long term issue.”
However, Don Mattingly suggested that it won’t be a significant long-term problem, but Volquez also won’t return from the DL on Sunday.
He will remain on the disabled list until learns the results of the tests within the next 24 hours. This will also help to see how long the Miami Marlins will be without Volquez.
There are no rumors as of yet if the patellar tendinitis will cause the Marlins to trade him. Although, the injury further clouds that possibility.
What could put Edinson Volquez up for trade possiblities is that the Marlins may not be willing to continue to pay Volquez hefty 2018 salary of $13 million. Volquez could also certainly be moved in August.
