On Saturday, an arbitrator decided in the Yankees’ favor, awarding Dellin Betances $3 million for 2017 instead of the $5 million he sought.

Betances only weighed in on Levine because of his back-handed compliment during a 20-minute conference call. During the call, Levine praised Betances as a “great person” and “elite setup man.” On the flip side, he had heavy criticism about Betances’ agent, Jim Murray.

The 28-year-old Dominican-American all-star said he felt “trashed” by the Yankees during the 90-minute arbitration hearing Friday. After the Yankees arbitration win Levine called Betances a “victim” of his agent’s attempt to change the marketplace.

Betances was fine with the outcomes saying he “was planning on putting everything behind me until I was aware of Randy Levine’s comments.” Dellin Betances was offended when Levine called him “the victim in this whole process and saying how much they love me.” He explains that they took him “in a room” and then “trash me for about an hour-and-a-half.” Betances felt the whole thing “was unfair.”

When it comes to his availability to pitch multiple innings and in the middle of innings, he’s going to think about it.

Betances, who has led relievers in innings pitched and strikeouts states:

“It is fair for me to say that.”
