Houston Astros pitcher David Paulino just committed career suicide after getting caught using PEDs. He is now suspended for 80 games which means that he’s out for the season.

LatinoAthlete.com has learned that David Paulino was suspended 80 games by Major League Baseball on Saturday after testing positive for PEDs.

David Paulino 80 Game Ban Details:

It’s been reported by the Cron, David Paulino penalty began with Saturday night’s game against the New York Yankees. Paulino is one of the Astros best prospect on the team, he represented rotation depth for the Astros.

David is just one of three Latino MLB players who have been suspended by the major league commission. Paulino received an 80-game ban after testing positive for Boldenone, an anabolic steroid. while Joseph Colon of the Cleveland Indians and fellow right-hander Joan Gregorio were suspended for the rest of the season.

Colon was said to have been using a synthetic drug similar to that of testosterone, and there was evidence that Gregorio used an anabolic steroid Stanozolol. Colon and Gregorio are minor league players. However, both men were on their club’s 40-man roster.

As for, the 23-year-old Dominican pitcher, her is not appealing his suspension. This means that he is also done for the season and ineligible to be included on a postseason roster. It also means that Paulino won’t receive pay during his suspension.

It’s tragic that Paulino, who had a 6.52 ERA in six starts with the Astros, is going out this way. Reliever Dayan Diaz will now be Paulino’s replacement. He was placed into active on Saturday night’s game against the Yankees.

Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow said:

“It’s unfortunate. There’s not a lot I can say about it that hasn’t already been said. He’s going to be suspended for 80 (games). He won’t be eligible for the postseason.”
