The NBA trade deadline is just 24 hours away and the LA Clippers and Boston Celtics have their eyes on Carmelo Anthony.

The only problem is there is no word that the New York Knicks will make any last-minute moves. Read more on a possible Carmelo Anthony Trade…

LatinoAthlete.com got word per Jeff Hornacek, who weighed in the possibility of the Knicks Trading Carmelo Anthony on Tuesday night:

“Most of the time, there’s all kinds of talk, and only one or two things ever happen, so we expect these guys to be here.”

Bottom line, if a Carmelo Anthony trade comes to fruition it’s up to team president Phil Jackson. However, many Knicks veterans are in high demand by other NBA leagues.

As of Tuesday, this is where things stand for the Knicks:

  • The Minnesota Timberwolves expressed interest in Derrick Rose.
  • The Timberwolves are motivated to move Ricky Rubio.
  • They’re hoping for a swap for Rose, if it works under the salary-cap guidelines.
  • Team president and coach Tom Thibodeau sees rookie Kris Dunn as the future point guard for the franchise
  • Knicks Kyle O’Quinn and Brandon Jennings are also being asked about by other teams in recent days, sources say, confirming earlier reports.
  • There have been talk of Carmelo Anthony being a top trade pick for three teams.
  • The Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Clippers, and Cleveland Cavaliers all want Anthony on their team.

The only problem, which no one considered is, Anthony didn’t sound like he was prepared to waive his no-trade clause and uproot his family.

Rumor has it, Anthony doesn’t want to give Jackson the satisfaction of having run him out of town. In fact, Anthony confirmed that no one from Knicks management has approached him with a potential deal.

So why the trade rumors?

Let’s put it like this. If Carmelo Anthony doesn’t get traded by Thursday, that doesn’t mean a trade is off the table. However, it does mean the possibility that Carmelo will be willing to waive his no-trade clause and head west. To Clipper country to join Chris Paul this summer, per league sources

We will see how it plays out. For now, expect to see Rose and Anthony uniform when the Knicks play the Cavaliers on Thursday.
