LatinoAthlete.com has learned that Charles Huerta (19-5, 12 KOs) was dubbed the victor at the Belasco Theater that was televised live nationally on Estrella TV’s Boxeo Estelar.
Before the fight “The Pride of Paramount” Latino fighter said:
“130lbs it’s go time!”
Charles Huerta, the 32-year-old Featherweight was ready to take the win from Delgado!
Huerta took Ivan “Striker” Delgado (11-1-1, 4 KOs) by surprise in the beginning of the third round with a KO. Before the thrid round both fighters kept the action on fire since they both had the urgency to get the win.
Here is what Huerta said about Delgado:
“He was a tough fighter, but I knew I had to stick to the jab.”
Here is how he described the fight:
“As the fight went on, I was seeing everything he was giving me and after the second round when I went back to my corner, I told my dad, ‘I got him.’ Coming into this fight I knew my experience was key, and that is what I was able to show.”
The fight happened in front of a sold out crowd that included NBA star Metta World Peace, NABF Middleweight Champion Jason “El Animal” Quigley, and NABA Middleweight Champion Abraham “Chamaco” Lopez. Also in the audience was NABA Super Featherweight Champion Carlos “The Solution” Morales, Oscar “El Jaguar” Negrete, and Luis Coria. Plus, former Mexican Olympian Raul “Cugar” Curiel, Joshua Franco, Hector “Finito” Tanajara, Jr., and Ryan Garcia.
